Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information livepeer.org (the "site") collects when you visit it, and what happens to it.

Who we are

The site is operated by the Livepeer Foundation, incorporated in the Cayman Islands ("we", "us"), which is responsible for the information described here.

What we collect

Analytics. We use three analytics services to understand how the site is used and how well it performs.

• Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and shows how people arrive, roughly where they are and what device and browser they use. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you: visits are counted in aggregate, and the short-lived identifier it uses to tell one visit from another is discarded within 24 hours.
• Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly each page loads and responds (its Core Web Vitals), with the page's address, your browser, device type and operating system, connection speed and country. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you: each measurement is anonymous and isn't linked to your IP address or to the other pages you visit.
• PostHog records the pages you view and the links and buttons you click, with your browser and device details and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It assigns your browser a random identifier, stored in a cookie and in local storage, so that visits from the same browser can be connected, including visits to other Livepeer sites on livepeer.org addresses that use the same PostHog project. It doesn't know your name or email address unless you give them to one of those sites.

Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

What we don't collect. The site has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no mailing list. Ecosystem listings are submitted through GitHub, and conversations happen on Discord and the Livepeer forum; those services' own privacy policies apply there.

Content loaded from other services

Some images on the site are served by Sanity's image service (cdn.sanity.io), and contributor avatars are served by GitHub (avatars.githubusercontent.com). As with any request on the web, those services receive your IP address and browser details when your browser loads the images.

Cookies

The site sets one cookie, PostHog's, which holds the random identifier described above. It also remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device. You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser's settings; the site works without them.

Why we use this information

We have a legitimate interest in running the site, keeping it secure and understanding which parts of it are useful.

Who we share it with

We share information only with Vercel, which hosts the site and provides Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, and with PostHog, Inc., which provides PostHog, each on our behalf. We don't sell your information.

Where it is processed

Vercel may process information in the United States and other countries outside your own. PostHog processes it in the United States.

How long we keep it

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights data is anonymous and can't be linked back to you. PostHog data is kept for as long as it helps us understand how the site is used, and is then deleted. Server logs are kept for no longer than 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of information about you, and to object to or restrict how it is used. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

Children

The site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information about them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
